Barkley’s – Dribble Release Concept

Dylan is poised for a breakout senior year after a successful junior campaign. One thing we’re working on, particularly when driving to his left, is a Barkley dribble. When penetration is halted, I want his dribble kept alive by dropping the ball to his back hip and turning the drive into a post up. The goal is to make a move in the post, draw a double and hit an open shooter, or find a cutter whose defender is ball watching. I also teach this as a scoring opportunity by getting into the post up by design, following the Kobe concept of attacking an open space. 3 scoring options – step back shot, sweeping runner across the middle, and a step through.
