Duncan Robinson Game 7 Breakdown

Duncan Robinson’s shooting ability from three makes him a difficult cover on the offensive end.

– 1st Clip – Bam flips the screen for Duncan after receiving the dribble hand off, opening him up for the shot off the dribble.

– 2nd Clip – Duncan’s pace is what gives him the wide open look. His ability to sprint and get his feet and lower body aligned behind the three point line is elite.

– 3rd Clip – Grant Williams is defending him with the lock and chase. If he goes under, Robinson has already shown the ability to knock down the shot from distance. Marcus Smart isn’t helping off Jimmy Butler which opens up a curl and layup at the rim.

– 4th Clip – My favorite clip. Butler and Robinson in the split. The Celtics switch the action, which leaves the slip from Butler to the hoop wide open. Teaching point – when your defender is not between you and the hoop in the split action, it triggers an immediate dive to the basket.

– 5th Clip – The screening at the top of the key creates the Al Horford switch onto Robinson. Horford is playing the shot with is back to the ball denying the potential dribble hand off or quick reversal for three. Robinson, taking the cue of his defender not being between him and the hoop, cuts for the layup off a great left handed bounce pass from Kyle Lowry.
