Middleton Offensive Emphasis – Playing Off Two Feet

The stampede catch is a great way to attack a close out and put the defense is a bind. Help side was late, leading to the open dunk.

After watching Mikal Bridges use the 45 cut with our team, our guys are starting to see the opportunities open up in live action. Credit to Phil Beckner’s Exclusive Mentorship Program for showing us the edit and encouraging us to show our players.

We preach paint touches and playing off of two feet. We rep our rips, pivots and jabs without fail every day.

If the defenders chest is in front of us we stop in the drop zone and look for the backdoor cut.

Playing off of two feet is one of our offensive points of emphasis and demonstrated here. Talmage splits the pick and roll and gets to two for the kick. The attack to two feet for the second drive allows us to play under control, playing at our pace and able to make good passes without drawing the charge.

Echoing throughout our gym is the two feet in the paint emphasis. Multiple pivots allow the time and vision to scan the floor and make the best decision.

We rep “one more” shooting in practice, emphasizing the extra pass to go from a good shot to a great shot.

Getting to two feet on the baseline is critical to putting together a quality finish without drawing a charge foul. Eyes, chin and chest are up early.
