Arguably the best execution of the Point Series at the collegiate level comes from the Richmond Spiders. Over the next few days, I’ll be breaking down different actions and reads from their Point Series vs. George Washington.
Clip 1: 5 Out Entry into Point Away, with the Point man setting a wide screen away instead of sprinting into the Pick and Roll.
Clip 2: With the game on the line in the final seconds, Richmond gets into the same action ran in the first clip, this time with a brush entry into Point Away, with the Point man setting a wide screen away instead of sprinting into the Pick and Roll. This two man action creates additional space for the offense to operate. With the lock and trail and drop coverage, the tight curl is open for a layup opportunity.
Clip 3: Point UCLA – Rather than sprinting into Point Over with the strong side split, the passer uses the UCLA cut to get a pass over the top for the layup.
Clip 4: Brush entry into Point Over Chicago. The help side defender is sagging in too deep, creating the drive and kick opportunity for three.
